| “Let
the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the
kingdom of God belongs to such as these” Mark 10:14”
From an initial start where our involvement and support was
targeted to assisting Maria’s Care as a home for orphans
and destitute children, the charity
has established, with God's blessing, various educational departments
within the
Maria's Care compound. These include the Training School of Life Skills, which provides vocational training for the 16+ age group. There is also the Kamuli Parents' Primary School
(KPPS), which includes classes P1-P7, a pre-school and deaf unit. The deaf unit caters for deaf children up to P4 level. We also support children in surrounding villages to attend local schools and pay for older children to board at various secondary & specialist deaf schools and vocational training colleges. Hence, we have links with
a variety
of schools in other areas of Uganda. Our village projects
help families to become self-sufficient. We have undertaken several dental & health projects in the surrounding areas and facilitate short volunteer trips for dental health workers to run clinics in remote areas.
